Structure
United Voice delegates and activists in the workplace are the most important part of the union’s structure. Delegates link up United Voice members, their union and the union’s staff working in branches. United Voice has branches in all States and Territories across Australia, which all come together to form the national union, supported and coordinated through a national office in Sydney.
United Voice branches are run by members through a branch council and branch executive. Members elect the leadership of their branch. Each branch works to support members in their workplaces, run campaigns, appear in industrial courts, and engage with politicians. Dedicated full-time officials in each of the branches are hired to work in research, publicity, education, training, organising and advocacy.
United Voice National Council is the national platform for making decisions about the future direction of the union. It consists of about 100 delegates from branches and sections around the country.
United Voice is affiliated to, and plays and active role within the ACTU – the peak body representing all union members across Australia. United Voice is also active within two global union federations – UNI and IUF.
