A Flying Start for Queensland's Children

Wed 28 Jul 10 Comments (1)

Earlier this year, LHMU Teacher Aide and School Cleaner members together with QPSU members took part in an online survey to assist in preparing a response to the Department of Education's Green Paper 'A Flying Start for Queensland's Children'.

Following this a joint one day LHMU and QPSU conference was held in Brisbane to discuss the results of the survey in preparation of a formalised joint response.

A joint response has now been finalised and submitted on behalf of LHMU and QPSU members.

Contributions received gave both unions real and qualitative insight into what the state governments proposals would mean for workers employed by Education Queensland and Queensland children.

For more information, please download your copy of the final response document here.

Thank you to all who contributed to the formation of a formal response to the Queensland Government.

I just wanted to thank the LHMU & QPSU for utilising their combined resources to conduct this extensive survey and for holding a conference to discuss members concerns on the State Government's proposal, which will impact heavily on Queensland's education system.

By LHMU members and QPSU members working together we will have a much stronger voice to ensure being heard by the State Government for better learning outcomes for students and hopefully improved working conditions for education support staff, ancillary and administration staff.
