Catering staff at Melbourne Cricket Ground have won a pay deal that will see junior workers of 17 and 18 get a rise of 14.5%, while 19-year-olds gained a 9.5% rise in the first year.
After months of negotiation, the LHMU secured an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement with Spotless Catering, which also includes a win for chefs with the redefined Cook Grade 4.
‘The new Grade 4 position will give chefs more pay, more recognition and better conditions, including being able to stipulate shifts,’ said chef Anthony Bloxham.
The EBA also saw the public holiday pay rate boosted from 2.5 to 2.65 of the ordinary hourly rate.
