Members welcome public inquiry into aged care
LHMU the health and aged care union welcomes today’s announcement by the Federal Government of the terms of reference of the Productivity Commission’s public inquiry into aged care.
“LHMU members welcome the new terms of reference of the Productivity Commission’s aged care enquiry," says Sue LInes, LHMU Assistant National Secretary.
“Our members, who work in aged care across the country, are particularly pleased the terms of reference set the scene for a thorough examination of the aged care workforce, the fundamental component of a quality aged care system.
“Workers are too often the forgotten part of the aged care landscape.
“We especially welcome the inclusion of remuneration, training and size of workforce in the terms of reference.
“LHMU members look forward to having their voices heard in the inquiry.
“This is an important step in building a quality and sustainable aged care system for Australia,” says Sue Lines.
