Angry paramedics take message to premier
Media release - "You'd die if you knew we earn" - paramedics demonstrate outside new premier Colin Barnett's city office.
Over 100 paramedics will demonstrate outside the premier’s office tomorrow morning to demand the new government give their pay dispute the same attention they’ve given the teachers’.
“The basic rate of pay for paramedics is appalling, and there is no career structure that other health professionals have access to,” said LHMU assistant secretary Kelly Shay.
“The new government has earmarked $120 million extra to give teachers their pay rise,” Ms Shay said.
“What are they going to do for paramedics? Colin Barnett needs to provide more money for better wages for paramedics, as a matter of urgency.
“No one will die if there is a teacher shortage, but paramedics save lives and are on the front line of emergency health care.”
This government needs to recognise the critical job that paramedics do in saving people’s lives and this will be demonstrated tomorrow -

There will be opportunities for footage and photographs with 100 paramedics expected to attend.
The message YOU’D DIE IF YOU KNEW WHAT WE EARN, will be symbolised with scythe-carrying grim reapers, banners, placards, and a dramatisation of a medical emergency.
