Clean Start a winner at SA Unions 125th anniversary
The Clean Start fair deal for cleaners campaign won the Best Example of Industry Campaigning Award at SA Unions 125th anniversary dinner held in Adelaide last week.
The Award was received by SA Branch President Cathy Daniels and fellow Cleaners Start campaigners Allan Spark and Marina Camarra. All three have played a leading role in the campaign as delegates.
Accepting the award Cathy, who is also LHMU SA Branch President, told union members and supporters at the dinner, it was the collective action of members and support of others, including other unions, that made the Clean Start win in the CBD possible. Cathy said the CBE win is a first step to winning a Clean Start for all cleaners across Australia.
The SA Unions Award acknowledges the battle by office cleaners to win the 7 Fair Solutions – fair hours, fair workloads, fair pay, fair job security, fair treatment, fair leave and fair rights. The Clean Start campaign have won the support from the Federal Government and most states and territories , including South Australia.
