Cleaners tell MPs: it's time for a Clean Start
Fifty cleaners from across Australia visited Parliament House in the nation’s capital last week.
The cleaners traveled to Canberra to meet with Members of Parliament. They told the MPs why it’s time for the Federal Government to adopt the Clean Start Collective Agreement as the national industry standard for Federal Government cleaning contracts.
The majority of the cleaning industry has signed on to the Agreement with the support of major property owners and big banks and a growing number of state governments. The Agreement, which comes into effect on 1 July, is designed to build better jobs for cleaners, higher service standards and a more sustainable and stable industry.
The cleaners were pleased with the encouraging response of the MPs including the Minister for Finance, The Hon Lindsay Tanner.
