Combined Unions respond to QLD Government Education Green Paper

Tue 20 Apr 10 Comments

LHMU Teacher Aide and School Cleaner members together with QPSU members are preparing a response to the Department of Education’s Green Paper ‘A Flying Start for Queensland Children’ during the public consultation period.

Some of the reforms proposed in the discussion paper, released earlier this year by the Minister for Education, has raised serious concern with the potential for negative impact for school based workers.

That's why your union, together with the QPSU, is developing a joint response to ensure we have a direct say about what this change could mean for education employees and what it could mean for Queensland children.

As part of the joint response being drafted by LHMU and QPSU, all teacher aides and school cleaners were invited via email to complete an online survey.

If you did not receive an email to complete this survey, please contact Debra Rhys-Davies via email at Debra.Rhys-Davies@lhmu.org.au or via phone on 07 3291 4606.

The survey closes on Friday 30 April 2010.

Reforming education processes is a huge task and it is important you are a part of this program.

As part of a combined union response we can stand together to ensure this program delivers A Flying Start for Queensland Children by ensuring quality staffing resources are not left out of the plan.
