Crown workers win the right to take action
Casino Union members won the right to take industrial action at Crown after voting overwhelmingly in support of action.
Over 97% voted yes to take action in support of a fair pay rise in a secret ballot by the AEC.
Casino Union members can now stop work with the full protection of the law.
Casino Union members make Crown the most profitable and recognised casino in Australia.
Throughout negotiations Casino Union members have fought for an agreement that recognises they are the leading hospitality workers in Australia.
Casino Union members said they are worth more than 11% over the next three years. They said this offer does not recognise the value of their work or status as the country’s leading hospitality professionals.
So we won the ballot, when are we going to take action?
We must give Crown 72 hours notice before we can take action.
What does 'legally protected action' mean?
Workers have the right to participate in industrial action. Over the past weeks Casino Union members have followed a legal process to ensure they are legally protected when they take action.
This means employees can organise and participate in action, free from coercion, undue influence, pressure or harassment from their employer.
From time to time when workers are participating in action some companies can act outside the law.
If you experience or witness any harassment or improper conduct directed against you or a fellow workmate as a result of your decision to take action — it is vital you report that violation.
You can access a Violation Report from a union delegate or organiser on site or by contacting the Union Rights Centre on 03 9235 7777.
