Crown's pay offer: here are the facts
For nearly two months of EA negotiations, Crown has refused to make a pay offer.
In the last few weeks, union members at Crown decided enough was enough!
Over 2000 people signed a petition giving Crown a deadline to make a pay offer this week.
Our action has worked.
Today, Crown finally tabled a starting offer of pay increases worth 9% over the next few years.
It's nowhere near good enough, and worse than other casinos, but it’s a start ....
So here are the facts;
• Crown’s offer would mean increases to pay of 3% in 2010, 2011 and 2012
• This is worse than Crown’s “sister property” Burswood who were recently given 4%, 3.5% and 3.5% over this same period
• Crown’s offer would mean pay increases that are less than what we got last time
• In 2006 Crown approved pay increases of 4%, 3.5%, 3.5% and 3.5% for some Crown employees
• Members are already saying that this offer isn’t good enough
• Even Crown admitted as much and said they might be prepared to do better (we’ll see ...)
• Crown’s offer – its worst ever – comes after they made $477.3 million profit in the last financial year
• Crown’s pay offer depends on us accepting cuts to HD rates in table games, security, cage & count
• Crown have said “no” to industry standard annual leave
• Crown’s pay offer depends on us accepting changes to part time bands which would improve roster flexibility for Crown
“Crown said they might be prepared to improve their pay offer so we need more support than ever. It is time to get involved!” Jessy Hall, F & B Attendant (pictured)
Crown's cut to HDs: what it means to me
Alongside their low pay offer, Crown have also said they want to replace HD rates with an across the board loading of 10% on your normal rate.
In table games at present, if you work HDs you get paid $25.00 per shift.
Crown’s cut to HD rates would mean you would only get 10% extra for working HDs.
For a three game dealer, that’s more than $3.50 less than you get right now.
In areas where you get paid more than $25.00 per shift for working HDs, you’ll be even worse off.
Union members are saying “no way” to Crown’s HD wage cut.
No. 1 in profit, so why not in pay?
When Crown finally delivered their low wages offer of 3% they were quick to admit that they will have to do better, and that they might increase the offer.
If you were sitting around wondering whether to help union members tell Crown we need a fair deal, now is the time.
If you work at Crown, your support for this campaign might be the difference between Crown improving its wages offer, or sticking with a low 3%.
It is time to stand up!
Crown says it is Australia’s “number one” casino. But in terms of wage increases, we’re behind the pack.

If you’re not a Casino Union member, now is the time to join.
If you are, now is the time to get others on board.
We’ve made Crown make a pay offer, now we need to make them get serious.
“We will continue to out perform our competitors. Our edge has always been around service and with your dedication, support and skill we will continue to hold our position as Australia’s number one casino property.” Crown Melbourne CEO David Courtney, who earns over $2.425 million per year (Jewel, Winter 2010)
WHO'S REALLY WINNING AT CROWN?
TELL CROWN TO INCREASE ITS WAGE OFFER!

It's long overdue that we as Crown employees are recognised as an integral part of this organisation and given the respect and support we all deserve.
The pay offer and conditions are a slap in the face for all frontline employees...a pay offer that doesn't keep us in line or above inflation rate is shameful from such a profitable company. SHAME Crown SHAME!!!
