Southport Workers Community Club delegate Helen Dodd and Queensland Health delegate Andrea Dunn will take part in the Anna Stewart Memorial Project, aimed at increasing the involvement of women in the union movement through training and participation in a range of union work.

The Project is a two week work experience program where participants spend one week with their own union and the other with a host union. Helen will be hosted by the QPSU and Andrea wil be hosted by the QIEU.

This year Southport Workers Community Club delegate, Helen Dodd has been selected to participate in the Anna Stewart Memorial Project, as a result of her exceptional enthusiasm and commitment to the union movement.

ā€œI’m grateful for the opportunity to be involved in such a program,ā€ Helen said.

ā€œI love what I do and am proud to be a union delegate."

The Project aims to facilitate the involvement of women in the trade union movement by giving them the skills and confidence to stand for office or seek a job within unions.

It encourages the integration of women into union structures by giving them the opportunity to experience and better understand union structures and also promotes awareness of the needs of women members and the important role they play in the development and growth of unions.

Participants experience a range of union work related activities, including mass meetings, enterprise bargaining and hearings in tribunals.
