Staff at Betta Foods – an ice cream cone manufacturer in Melbourne – have won a new agreement that includes a 13% pay rise and four weeks back pay on that increase.
Four members met regularly with management to negotiate the deal. They fought to have redundancy payouts lifted from two to three weeks per year, with the cap on final payouts to be lifted from 30 to 52 weeks.
Process worker Joe Croce said everyone was happy with the agreement. ‘They offered us two weeks and we went back and said “We’re not happy with this”. Three weeks was something we fought hard for.’
