Queensland cleaners are getting ready to celebrate International Cleaners Day on Tuesday 15 June 2010.
International Cleaners Day was first celebrated in 1990 in the United States of America as ‘Justice for Cleaners Day’. For the last 20 years June 15 has become a focal point for organising cleaners in campaigns and celebrations across several continents.
All members are invited to attend the presentation of the ‘Golden Toilet Brush’ to a contractor who has not yet agreed to support the Clean Start Agreement. March to commence at 11am, please assemble at LHMU Brisbane office, 27 Peel Street, South Brisbane, sausage sizzle after the march.
All members are also invited to attend a sausage sizzle at the Brisbane International Airport between 5.30am and 5.30pm. Representatives from QLEAVE, Australian Super and Union Shopper will be on hand to answer any questions members may have.
LHMU members who bring along a potential member, who joins their union on the day, will go into a draw to win a one hour massage at the Indooroopilly Rainforest Massage and Day Spa, kindly donanted by Union Shopper.
Union Shopper will also be giving each union member a two-for-one offer to see the Broncos V Panthers and Bulldogs V Titans double header at Suncorp Stadium on Friday 18 June.
