The workers have won federal government underwriting of their accrued entitlements through the General Employee Entitlements and Redundancy Scheme (GEERS).
Responding to these letters Julia Gillard has written to Louise Tarrant, LHMU National Secretary with a message for members:
"One again, please pass along to your members my thanks for these letters, and for their commitment to the children in their care. The skills of your members are very much in demand and will be critical to the implementation of the Government’s agenda for early childhood education and child care which focuses on providing Australian families with high-quality, accessible, affordable and integrated early childhood education and childcare."
