LHMU Community Rally in support of employees at Minda Inc

Wed 02 Jun 10 Comments (1)

LHMU Minda Members are holding a community rally to support their campaign for fair wages this Saturday 5 June 2010.

Minda employees who work unsociable hours used to receive 6 weeks annual leave per year.  In June 2009 Minda undertook a restructure resulting in many employees having their annual leave entitlement reduced to 4 weeks per year – this occurred without agreement.

In addition to this, Minda has unsuccessfully tried on two occasions to approve an enterprise agreement that confirms this loss of entitlements.  On both occasions employees voted NO.

To show Minda that they want to continue negotiations for a better agreement, LHMU members made the tough decision to begin industrial action in February.  In taking industrial action they have made sure that any bans implemented have minimal impact on the clients they care for.

A range of stop work meetings held in May endorsed a community rally so that Minda employees can let the community know about their issues at work.

The LHMU and its members would like to invite you to join us for a community rally and sausage sizzle to be held as follows:

Saturday 5 June, 10-12pm at the entrance of Minda Inc., King George Ave, Brighton
