LHMU members set to make a difference as Union Climate Connectors
LHMU members are joining together with members from other Australian unions and the Australian Conservation Foundation to meet the challenge of climate change, through becoming Union Climate Connectors.

As a Union Climate Connector you will receive materials and updates to help people in your workplace make changes, in their homes, at work and in the community.
Already there are over 2000 connectors from many different unions across the country ready to take on the challenge of tackling the climate crisis.
This crisis is one of the biggest challenges workers have faced. Every month the warnings of the dangers of a warming globe become louder and more urgent. We need our leaders to take real action, nationally and globally, if we are to avoid the terrible consequences of the climate crisis.
The scientists tell us that if we start reducing emissions immediately, we may be able to save the Barrier Reef, stop 100 million people from being displaced and minimise the increased number and intensity of cyclones, bushfires, floods and droughts. The first step is to achieve a strong global agreement on climate change in Copenhagen in December, a successor to the Kyoto protocol.
Our campaigns have shown that when workers stand together we can make a real difference. That is why LHMU members and their friends are signing up to take action on climate change.
If we don't deal with the climate crisis now we will be leaving future generations worse off than ourselves. We can only build a fairer society in a safe climate that is centred on good green jobs and strong, active communities.

As a Union Climate Connector, you will receive professional training, resources and tools. Organisers will be available over the phone, and in face-to-face training (in association with the ACTU Organising Centre). You will have access to everything you need to campaign in your workplace and in your community.
