LHMU members to Walk Against Warming
On Saturday 12 December thousands of Australians will join the Walk Against Warming to raise their voices about the danger to our planet from climate change.
LHMU members will be walking because we want to see a safe climate, a fairer society and good green jobs.
As we walk, world leaders will meet in Copenhagen deciding on what action the world will take on the climate crisis. We will send them a message they can't ignore: Australians want to be leaders on climate change. We want real action on climate change. In order to avoid runaway climate change we want Australia and other developed countries to cut our greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2020.

LHMU member Bronwen Jefferson has already said she will be joining the Walk Against Warming, because she wants to make sure her children can live in a safe climate.
"Children are such a huge part in this and we sometimes overlook that. They are going to inherit this mess. I will be taking my kids and I strongly encourage everyone, especially families, to get down there."
LHMU members have shown that when workers stand together we can make a real difference. That is why we are joining the Walk in every State and Territory in Australia.
"LHMU members are used to making a difference in their workplaces so we should be looking at extending that to environmental issues by getting on board with Walk Against Warming," said Bronwen.
This is a really important time – all the world's leaders will be watching to see how many people care about climate change. The Walk is a family-friendly event that is part of an international day of action in hundreds of cities around the world.
