LHMU on The 7:30 Report
On 6th August, the 7.30 Report, ABC TV’s national current affairs program, ran a story about the crisis in Australian childcare.
The show reported how the Federal Government is about to start an investigation into the quality of childcare in the country. The government will meet with industry experts and State Ministers to discuss issues such as the standards of care, qualifications of workers and the ratios of carers to children.
The show featured an interview with LHMU National Secretary Louise Tarrant, and Kristy Jones - an LHMU member from Melbourne. Professor Frank Oberklaid, Royal Children's Hospital, and Maxine McKew, Parliamentary Secretary for Childcare also appear.
