LHMU Queensland supports Mothers Day Classic
LHMU again participated in the Mother’s Day Classic fun run/walk for breast cancer research on Sunday 10 May.
LHMU members and staff joined with over 80,000 people nationally, the highest ever number of participants in the event’s 12-year history, up from 67,000 in 2008.
“It was fantastic to be involved in this great event with LHMU working women and mum’s on their very special day," Assistant Branch Secretary Michael de Brenni said.
"Working women getting together can achieve great results and overcome any challenge, whether it be injustice in the workplace or diseases, like breast cancer.”
LHMU represents nearly 30,000 workers, the majority of whom are women.
LHMU are proud to have been involved in this event again this year, which has raised over $5 million over its history towards the battle against breast cancer.
“The fact that LHMU members turned out on Mothers Day is a tribute to the energy of working women. It's clear that LHMU women are a force to be reckoned with,” Michael de Brenni said.
