National childcare leaders unite to identify crisis in quality standards across

The LHMU hosted a Childcare Summit of peak childcare bodies and leading early childhood academics in Sydney on 2 November in response to the crisis in childcare quality standards.

The Chaser co-founder Charles Firth and some young helpers demonstrated why worker-to-child ratios are the key to quality childcare.

The Summit called for an urgent national plan to boost childcare quality standards across.

The childcare policies of both the Coalition and the ALP were put under the microscope to rank their strengths and weaknesses.

The Childcare Summit found Labor had taken the lead on childcare policies in the 2007 election campaign with its announcement of more places, funding assistance, more staff training and standardisation of national regulations.

The Summit is calling on the Coalition to urgently release its long-overdue policies
