NEGOTIATIONS FOR MINDA'S EA7 SUCCESSFUL
Negotiations at Fair Work Australia for disability services employees' Minda Enterprise Agreement 7 have now concluded with agreement in principle being reached between the parties.
Key features of the agreement include:
• An agreed definition of ‘shift worker’ and retention of 6 weeks annual leave for all shift workers (backdated for employees in Brighton East)
• 5% wage increase payable from 1 July 2009 (with 2% of that backdated to November 2008)
• 3% wage increase payable from 1 July 2010
• 3% wage increase payable from 1 July 2011
• A commitment to genuine consultation on changes to work practises including the introduction of long term or permanent changes to rosters that would impact on employees’ take home pay or entitlements
• Increase in paid parental leave
In addition to the above we were also successful in achieving by exchange of letters, an agreement between Minda and the LHMU in relation to an increase of the severance pay component of redundancy provisions for employees with more than 9 years service during the life of the current restructuring at Minda.
Next Steps
Once we have received the final document from Minda we will arrange meetings of members and interested non members to discuss the offer.
Once the consultation process has been completed Minda employees will have the opportunity to vote on the proposed new Agreement.
Undoubtedly the protected actions carried out by LHMU members made a huge difference in the outcome of this dispute – it has been a hard road for members, congratulations and thank you to everyone who took part in the bans and worked hard to get the union message out to all members and supporters.
A special thank you must go to LHMU Delegates, the amount of hard work put in by Delegates in their own time was absolutely invaluable to the LHMU negotiators and they deserve recognition from members for their dedication to a positive outcome.
Protected Action Bans to be lifted by all LHMU Members at Minda
As a result of the in principle agreement all protected action bans should be called off.
Protected Action Bans will cease as of midnight Thursday 24 June 2010.
