Former Branch President and LHMU Life Member Sue Balde was listed on the Honour Roll for her work as a committed advocate for the aged care industry, particularly in the area of workers’ rights, safety, training and welfare of older South Australians.

Former Branch President and LHMU Life Member Sue Balde147 outstanding South Australian women have been enlisted on the SA Women's Honour Roll, following an official ceremony acknowledging their contribution at Parliament House on 2 June 2008.

The event also unveiled the winner of South Australia's Woman of the Year.

Minister for the Status of Women, Jennifer Rankine, said "The Women's Honour Roll pays tribute to South Australian women for their outstanding contribution and achievements in championing diversity, leading the community towards greater respect and responsibility, and exploring new directions through innovation."

Nominations for the Women's Honour Roll were sought during this year's International Women's Day luncheon in March, with an influx of applications received by the Office for Women.

"The response across the State was extremely encouraging, with many of the nominees put forward by their peers who believed those worthy would be too modest to nominate themselves." Ms Rankine said.

"Besides metropolitan Adelaide, women from Port Augusta, Coober Pedy, Port Pirie, the South East, Tumby Bay, Robe, and Kadina were also nominated."

"An astonishing array of talents, experiences and cultures are represented on the Honour Roll, and as Minister for Volunteers, I am also delighted to see that many of these women are active volunteers in their community in some capacity," Ms Rankine said.
