Protests to continue until Pickwick Eski signs fair deal for cleaners
Peace at a quiet Port Melbourne commercial estate has been shattered by Pickwick Eski’s failure to sign up to a fair deal for cleaners.
Cleaners and union officials are holding daily protests at Pickwick Eski’s Port Melbourne office last week (pictured) and outside the prestigious 333 Collins St, where the company holds the cleaning contract.
Pickwick Eski is the only major Melbourne city contractor yet to sign the agreement that delivers cleaners fairer wages, a reasonable workload and increased job security.
Currently Melbourne’s 2000 office cleaners earn $300 a week on average and work shifts as short as two hours.
Protests will continue until Pickwick Eski joins other major contractors and signs on to the Clean Start agreement, which delivers cleaners a fair deal.
