Renewing Power in a Changing Climate

Mon 13 Jul 09 Comments

LHMU has taken an exciting step into the public debate on climate change, with a new paper on the challenges and opportunities workers face.

The paper focuses on what climate change means for both low paid workers and key LHMU industries – property services, hospitality and tourism, children’s services, health and aged care, and manufacturing.

LHMU members work across the spectrum of Australia’s economy, and we are some of Australia’s lowest paid workers. This is why LHMU members have a unique contribution to make to the nation’s response to climate change.

We need to ensure low income earners are not left behind and that workers have a voice in how their workplace transitions are achieved and how our industries can move to create green jobs.

The paper has been sent to Members of Parliament, environment groups and other community groups. View an electronic copy, or contact your LHMU branch to order a hard copy.
