Seasons greetings, Mr Rudd
ABC Learning childcare workers and families send festive greetings to the Prime Minister.
More than a hundred centres sent greeting cards to the Government. Staff, parents and children participated in this activity because the future of centres is so important. Here’s what some people said:
“This centre has the most amazing staff who always give support, encouragement and understanding. They go above their job descriptions. I have the ability to work knowing my daughter is in a safe, family, caring and loving environment. Please keep it open!”
- Parent, South Australia
“Our centre is not closing but we would like answers in regards to our long-service leave and other entitlements. We have worked hard for these entitlements under stressful and underpaid conditions.”
- Director, Queensland
“More needs to be done to secure our futures as teachers and early educators of the children of our next generation. Our livelihood is now in your hands.”
- Childcare professional, Victoria
“We are fortunate to be placed on the viable list for 2009. However, this is a bitter pill as friends, colleagues and families have been affected. It is beyond our comprehension that any facility that provides childcare can have its viability questioned! I changed my career path based on a number of your election promises. It’s time to deliver.”
- Childcare professional, NSW
