Fair Work Australia calls Star City's bluff
Today, Star City management lost its bid to stop workers’ planned 24-hour strike on the first day of Chinese New Year. The strike will go ahead!
In knocking back Star City’s challenge, the commission has recognised workers’ long struggle and genuine commitment to negotiate a fair deal with management.
Star City management folds
Star City management yesterday retreated from its hardline on locking out striking workers.
The more than 70 dealers who stopped work for one-hour last night during the casino's launch of its Baccarat section were let back in to work.
On the other three occasions when workers took one-hour stoppages, management threatened and followed through with locking them out. But not this time.
Congratulations to Star City workers who have continued to stay strong throughout the campaign.
There's more action this week!
Tonight, workers will be handing out lucky 'red packets' to Star City customers to mark the launch of Chinese New Year festivities. Workers will then go on strike on Chinese New Year day (14 February).
