Training and development builds stronger workplaces

Thu 04 Feb 10 Comments (4)

Union education provides delegates with the tools, skills and confidence to build stronger workplaces.

The Queensland Branch has again committed to rolling out a number of courses for delegates in 2010.

Courses are available in Brisbane, as well as many regional locations.

LHMU Queensland has engaged an external provider to conduct research into identifying what sort of training you want, how you would like it delivered and when, to assist us in delivering more effective training and development programs for you.

A sample of delegates will be contacted by phone for a short survey over the coming months.

I would like a formal course or detailed information session for explanations, interprtation etc of our EBA ie Between ISS Security and LHMU. I as a delegate do at times have difficulties explaning to memmbers some parts of our EBA, I would like to be able to more conversant with our EBA without having to ring the LHMU office to get clarification.

16/05/10: I have just read this comment of mine which was posted at the March Qld Security Forum. I reinterate my sentiments more than ever and would hope that this type of information session is held for all associated delegates after our new EBA with ISS is completed and ratified by all parties, hopefully in the second half of this year 2010.

I have recently completed my first delegates course. I feel I am now equipped to be able to answer questions, share about campaigns and the Union, and much more.
Last night I was asked to share at a staff meeting and my favourite new phrase is "We are the Union". I have also placed handprints in the staff room saying "Many hands unite to better ourselves."
Thank you to the dedicated officials who offer advice and support.
I strongly reccomend that people take the opportunity to partake in these training courses.

I would like to be able to access training sessions in the South West Queensland region, more specifically Charleville/Cunnamulla area. All sessions on the calendar are currently set for costal or metro areas which means at least 6 day out of the workplace for those of us who would like to attend both the training and follow up sessions and have to travel from remote areas.
