The LHMU received notice yesterday from the lawyers representing Treasury Casino management advising that this Friday’s protected industrial action could no longer take place due to a legal technicality.
The LHMU and members have made the decision to postpone protected industrial action to a later date to focus on the fight for a strong, fair agreement in the workplace as opposed to the court room.
The LHMU and delegates scheduled an urgent meeting with management yesterday and an EBA meeting on Tuesday 16 June to hold management to their agreement to negotiate in good faith.
It is assumed management will attempt to throw another 'TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT' offer to employees.
Management are only taking these measures in an attempt to hide behind WorkChoices legislation and deny workers of their rights.
Where to from here?
Management are running scared and we need to capitalise on this.
The LHMU and delegates will be discussing a plan to escalate actions to achieve a strong and fair agreement.
Your continued support of these actions, whatever shape they take, is vital if we are going to win this campaign.
More information on upcoming actions will be made available to you as soon as they come to hand.
