Treasury table games restructure back on the table

Fri 21 May 10 Comments

LHMU officials and delegates met with Treasury Casino management recently to seek resolution to a dispute about the quality of consultation with LHMU members about the restructure of Table Games supervisory roles.

LHMU representatives and casino management agreed to adjourn the case lodged with Fair Work Australia as a result of management's written undertaking to protect those employees affected by the restructure.

Casino management agreed to a workload re-allocation and to re-establishing the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), to ensure members have the opportunity to express their concerns.

LHMU delegate and Treasury Casino employee Shane Reimer, said it was important members be given the opportunity to meet on site and raise issues to ensure adequate and effective consultation.Treasury Casino delegate Shane Reimer

"Management's decision to re-establish their commitment to a Joint Consultative Committee will give employees the opportunity to discuss their concerns around the restructure of Table Games supervisory roles," Shane said.

Rehabilitation and workers compensation issues were also discussed.

Poor consultative practices in the past have led to a number of issues not being dealt with adequately.

It is hoped recent discussions will resolve this.

Meeting notice:

All casino members are encouraged to attend a one-hour paid meeting on Friday 28 May, 2010 at one of the following times: 11am, 12-noon, 7pm or 8pm for a report-back from delegates and to nominate for JCC delegate positions, work site delegate positions and workplace health and safety representative positions.
