Troy Buswell's Plan To Sack 4000 Workers Through Privatisation
Troy Buswell is looking at privatising cleaning in Government schools and hospitals by the end of the year.
'This would mean sacking up to 4000 workers. These are long serving employees who take care of our schools and hospitals.' Said Dave Kelly, Secretary LHMU
'Despite Colin Barnett saying before the election that he would not privatise these services, it is no surprise that Troy Buswell wants to punish the lowest paid workers to save a few dollars. We are already seeing privatisation rolling out in places like Albany hospital.
The last time cleaning was contracted out by the Liberal state government it was disastrous.
'Privatisation leads to job cuts, reductions in wages and conditions, overworked staff in understaffed workplaces and inevitably, faults in service delivery. It costs the taxpayer more in the end.'
Hospitals also suffered serious problems with infection control, with major outbreaks of MRSA,
Golden Staph and Norovirus. Large areas of Royal Perth Hospital were shut down and special cleaning teams sent in.
'In schools, cleaning services are compromised and in the past we’ve seen incidents where education assistants and teachers are spending valuable class-time cleaning toilets and classrooms.' Dave Kelly said.

the contracted staff lacked any real devotion and skill to clean schools to a high standard.
so school employed cleaners return and all was well again we were doing the job because we loved and had pride in our work
i was employed by the education dept and we as a team of cleaners took pride in our work .
no to privatisation of school cleaners it will all end in tears
