We want Fiona Stanley business case released!

Our privatisation campaign continues as minor work bans in hospitals are brought to an end.

On Saturday evening, Commissioner Jennifer Harrison ordered that minor work bans being followed by hospital support workers in protest at the government’s privatisation policy, be lifted.
She only came to this decision after visiting Royal Perth Hospital and the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital on Saturday.
After careful consideration and due to the threat from the Barnett government to stop workers’ wages, all members in hospitals have been advised to return to full duties.
Commissioner Harrison also ordered the state government to discuss their privatisation policy with our union United Voice.
Dave Kelly, secretary of United Voice said: “We now want to see the Barnett government release the business case for privatising 31 different services at Fiona Stanley hospital.
“After all, this will be a contract worth billions of taxpayers’ dollars to a non Australian company with no experience of healthcare in Australia.
“United Voice has tried to force ministers like Kim Hames to release the  business case via the Freedom of Information Act. But our requests have been refused with the excuse that the information taxpayers have a right to see is “commercially sensitive”.
“Of course, the order stopping the work bans is not the end of our privatisation campaign. Our members and supporters are still determined to keep fighting the government’s privatisation agenda in hospitals.
“At the new Midland Health Campus for example, the entire hospital will be privatised, which is of great concern to the community there.”
Commissioner Harrison said the Barnett government should give United Voice five days notice of when they are to sign the contract with Serco.
