Why full centres, with long waiting lists could be dumped by Receivers
Research by the LHMU - The childcare union gives a strong indication of why the ABC Learning Receivers have left some of the Company’s centres off the list of centres which will remain open in 2009.
The LHMU has been investigating why the Receivers are casting doubt on the viability of centres which the union believes have full occupancy and long waiting lists.
The union now believes it has uncovered the key to solving part of the mystery. Louise Tarrant, LHMU National Secretary, will brief media.
The briefing will be at Martin Place Sydney where city workers will be asked to support ABC workers and families by signing a petition calling on the BIG FOUR banks, CBA, ANZ, Westpac and NAB, to ensure the workers have a secure future and all children have a guaranteed childcare place.
The petition can also be signed online at www.lhmu.org.au
The LHMU has placed a full-page advertisement in The Australian Financial Review today. The ad, BABIES BEFORE BANKS, highlights the role of the BIG FOUR in the ABC Learning crisis.
